Add Tile vs. Add Button vs. Create New Page
When making a website change request, it is important to be very clear exactly what you are requesting. The following terms are frequently conflated or misused in tickets, which can lead to misunderstandings and delays in work.
Add a Tile
Adding a tile means creating a navigational tile on a branch page to an existing page, like the gray boxes at the bottom of the TAPUR Study page on ASCO.org, or the blue boxes on the Attend phase page on the Annual Meeting site. These should be submitted as an IA update, as adding these tiles requires an update to the information architecture or sitemap.
Add a Button
Adding a button means adding a call to action formatted as a button on an existing page, like the registration button on the Registration page on the Annual Meeting website, or on the Volunteer page on ASCO.org.
Create New Page
If you wish to upload content to a page that does not currently exist, include "create new page" in your service request title. As part of this request, you may ask that this page be linked via a tile on an existing branch page, but it is not sufficient to simply request that a tile be added and append new page copy to the ticket. This will cause service delays.
