How to Use the Image Uploader
Follow these steps for uploading and placing an image within a piece of content on ASCO.org or other Durpal 7 sites. The steps below will be specific to ASCO.org.
Step-by-step guide
- Be sure to name your file according to proper Naming Convention practices before uploading it to the server and linking to it.
- Beneath the body field, navigate to the Image Uploader
- Click on the link "Open File Browser."
- In the dialog box that pops up, on the left underneath the folder titled , select the content-files folder. Within the content-files folder, select the folder named for the section in which your image will display. These sections are similar to the sub-headers on the main page for ASCO.org.
- Example: when adding a picture to a page in the About ASCO section (that is not a Press Release page), click on the "about-asco" folder as show below. Then click on the "images" folder within the "about-asco" folder.
EXCEPTION: if you are adding a logo to any page anywhere on www.asco.org, save it in the "logos" folder within the "content-files" folder. Please make sure you are using the logos found in the Branding Portal.
EXCEPTION: if you are adding images to an ASCO in Action or Press Release, save it in the "blog-release" folder within the "content-files" folder. Do not save anything in the PDF folder.
- Click on the Upload button in the top of the dialog window. Select Choose File and navigate to your file (located on your computer or networked drive), select it, and click the open button
- The image name should appear next to the Choose File button. Once it does, click the upload button
- In the right column of the dialog window the image just uploaded should appear highlighted and a preview in the space below. Double click on it. (If your image does not appear highlighted scroll through the list of files until you find yours, and select it. This happens when the file already exists in ASCO.org)
- Once the File Browser window closes, you will be back at the image uploader. Enter a description of what the picture is in the “Alternate text” field (this is what is read by screen readers used by the visually challenged) that now appears under the image file.
- Enter the caption in the caption in the Caption field that now appears under the image file
The image will appear within in it's pre-defined location on the public view of your content.
